Senior, Destinee Hampton, is a member of Educators Rising Program. This program allows her to learn about becoming a teacher through internships in teachers' classrooms, creating and teaching lessons, assisting teachers with lessons, and working with students around campus. She is in the Methods of Teaching class this year with Ms. Kurstein Keck. Ms. Keck has been impressed with how serious Destinee takes the program and how hard she works to be helpful and encouraging with students. Last year, she was able to intern under Coach Kilgore and help plan basketball practices and work on skills with the ball players. This year, Destinee is spending some time in Mrs. Noles' First Grade classroom. She has been observing and is now moving into the Internship portion of the program. Recently, Destinee worked with the First Grade students on nonstandard units of measurement by having them use cubes to measure objects. The lesson was very hands on and the students had a blast!
"Destinee has a gift with young learners! She is extremely patient with the students as they tackle new concepts in their learning. She is always enthusiastic and my students love having her in our First Grade family!!" - Stephanie Noles.
Oark School is thankful for hardworking students like Destinee who give their courses their all! We look forward to seeing all the great things Destinee continues to do in the future. We are thankful for the Educators Rising Program and we appreciate Ms. Keck and all she does to help students interested in becoming Educators learn more about the field.
